So I'm discouraged.
Back story: I have a long history of sinus infections and they were especially bad this winter. I had illness after illness.
I finally felt well enough to run again and I got tendonitis in my foot. Rested, ice, took it easy for a couple weeks.
Back to running and working out last week. Then I got strep throat last weekend. Fever and in bed for a few days.
I am finally feeling better and want to get back at running. I have a 10 mile run June 7th and a half marathon June 14th and a full (my first) Sept 27th.
Think there is anyway I can still train for these races and get going? or too late? my friends I train with are already up to 9-10 miles
I think it depends on your goals and your training background. If you are very new to running I don't think its wise to push the 10-miler and HM. Although with a run-walk they could both be do-able without injury. For the full, you've got plenty of time to train for that!
I don't think you need to give up on these races just yet, but you'll probably have to be willing to be flexible and take it week by week. If you're okay running 5-6 miles now, I'd aim for maybe 5 miles this weekend, then just increase by 1 or 1.5 miles each weekend. I think that would get you ready for the 10 mile for sure if you did a few shorter runs each week along with a bit of stretching, cross training, or whatever else you like.
I would keep it to 3-4 runs each week and go slow. If the tendinitis pops up again then you may have to re evaluate. Good luck!
ETA: I agree with the run/walk. That may be your best bet, especially if you are a newer runner and/ or injury prone.
