I've seen lots of posters with Mirena, but not Paragard.
Hormonal BC is no longer an option for me due to a recent diagnosis of complicated migraines, plus a family history of blood clots.
But I have confirmed endometriosis, plus fibroid tumors and an ovarian cyst. My periods have been nightmares since I was 15. The pill helped a lot, but of course it's no longer an option.
My GYN is willing to do surgery, but I want to avoid surgery if it's possible to resolve my symptoms in other ways.
So any Paragard experiences you want to share? BTW, I'm 31, single, and no real plans for kids. But I might change my mind on the kids thing.

No, I didn't see that post, thanks!
Looks like heavier periods and cramps all around. I already have that problem, I'd be debilitated if it got any worse.
Before my neurologist banned the hormones my GYN discussed Lupron, but after some research there's no way I want to even try it.
I don't want to have surgery because my family doesn't live close by and I don't have anyone to take care of me. I mean, I have friends that would do it but I feel guilty asking. Plus my mom died this past October after a *very* routine surgery, so it really makes me think twice about it.

Did they say no to Mirena? The hormones are very low. I can't have any estrogen due to migraines and family stroke history. My doctor finally took my "headaches" seriously after a 2 day migraine that resulted in the entire left side of my body going numb, no vision, and couldn't move. I did fine of mirena which we gave a ago since my periods were so heavy and painful
I wish there were more non-hormonal options for BC. There is no medical reason why I cant take hormonal BC, but I really dont want to. :-( I hope there are more developments in this area in the future.
I am getting paragard on Friday because my neuro suggested it due to my migraines. I haven't had children so I am kind of terrified that the insertion is going to hurt like a bitch. And I am not looking forward to heavier periods, but I guess it's better than a stroke, right?
