I got an email last week Sunday for a new, local running group. Cool, right? I was really excited about having a group that met to run on my side of town.
The scheduled runs are all at odd times – middle of the day on weekends, 4 PM and 8:30 PM during the week (running 10 miles at 8:30 PM sounds like torture). I was not able to make yesterday's run, because it conflicted with spin.
ANYWAY--this morning I get an email saying that this group is now closed and there's a blaze of glory goodbye message from the organizer. He said it sucks to put in so much work and have no one appreciate your efforts (true, but he asked for zero input and WHO WANTS TO START A LONG RUN ON A SATURDAY AT 10 am WHEN IT'S HOT AS HELL HERE)
On one hand, I'm sad because it would've been nice to have such easy access to a local running group. On the other hand, if crazy cakes is going to go off to a group of strangers (especially after organizing something and not asking for any input whatsoever)? No thanks.
I'm part of a huge, really popular Meetup group here, and this guy was recently made an organizer, but his runs were always at super inconvenient times, like 2pm on a Sunday. Umm. I ran with him (at someone else's run, ha!) and he was complaining that nobody came to his run. I'm kind of sorry he didn't do a blaze of glory exit like your person!
