I love the name, but now DD's name will be even more popular. When my Grandma Charlotte passed away 4 years ago I knew if I had a girl I wanted to name it Charlotte, never knew that when she was born it would be such a popular name!

That is why I am glad they didn't go with Alice, which is my DD's name
I heard some people say the queen would never allow them to use Diana, but I don't get the feeling that she's a bitter hard-ass. She probably said "oh isn't that lovely" and went and played with her corgis.

I couldn't love it more!! I thought they'd use Elizabeth and Diana as middle names. I adore the name Charlotte -- such a pretty choice!
I'd love to know the royal history of the name Charlotte. I don't remember any past Queen Charlottes. Isn't Charlotte the feminine form of Charles, or am I making that up?
Anneliese was almost Charlotte or Caroline - those were the 3 we were choosing between once she was born. I (obviously) like it but am kind of glad we didn't use it now in case it gets even more popular!

There was a Princess Charlotte of Wales who was 2nd in line to the crown of King George III, after her father (eventual King George IV). She died at 21 in childbirth though. Queen Victoria, the eventual heir to the throne, was born 1.5 years or so after Charlotte's death.
