22 hrs After almost a week, I have all the bookmarks printed off for the 72 first graders at Doomed Elementary. Only tonight and tomorrow to get ready to talk to the kids about being a writer. Mainly talking about the writing process and showing them copies of edits and the original covered copies of my 1st 2 books. Typing up my presentation before I write it on note cards for reference. Need to print off a few pages/chapters of old chapters, new chapters with edits and first drafts! Crazy. So much to get around and so little time!
18 hrs Off to bed. Need to finish my presentation and the bookmarks tomorrow. I'm going to need some rest for all that. Good night!
6 hrs The presentation is finished, note cards written up, got the note to parents printed, an old rough draft printed, and what I'm working on now. Just have to get these bookmarks cut apart and put the ribbon on them. Then I can pack it all up and have it all ready for tomorrow. Might run through the presentation once.

Boring: I'm nervous. I had problems with presentations throughout school. Only time I didn't have a too bad of time with on was my senior project presentation day. Then again it was on a topic I kind of fell in love with. Or maybe I should say person, since it was on Elvis Presley. Like · Reply · 4 mins

yeah... sure.
1st graders don't actually write and re-write, or attend to any presentation that uses note cards, or really, truly, understand that authors are people; that people write books they read. They can tell you "the author writes the text and the illustrator makes the pictures" but it's not a solid idea yet.
does she have a Power Point? are her books child appropriate? and again, I ask, did the teacher's invite her or did she invite herself?

She knows what age first graders usually are, right? Showing them an unedited and edited draft of a book isn't going to make an impression on children just learning to read.
They'll like the bookmarks. At least they'll have something to look at and fiddle with during the notecard part.
