That sucks - can you ask for subcutaneous injections of hudrocortisone? I've had those at the Derm before for other issues with itching.
(It might have been some other type of steroid, but similar to cortisone.)
Sorry, you cannot give steroids with scabies. Ask about topical lime-sulfur. Also sometimes doxepin can work wonders for the itching. Hope the ivermectin brings quick relief.
Did she actually do skin scrapings or just diagnose it on sight?
She diagnosed it on sight. From what I've read I have a pretty classic presentation in terms of the parts of my body affected (and not) and the way the rash is kind of clustered in little straight lines of bumps in some areas.
If this dose of ivermectin doesn't do it I'll be going for another opinion, but I'm also losing patience (and $$$) for doctors appts right now. I
Oh okay. Definitely get a second opinion if the second dose doesn't work.

I'm so sorry. I think I'd be asking DH to just keep spraying Raid on me at that point. GL I hope the meds work soon. Don't feel bad about cranking up the AC if it brings relief. You want to not cause any huge scaring issues from itching.

I was at the dermatologist this morning and she is pretty certain. She said resistance is growing globally so she wasn't surprised. She is pretty confident that the second dose of ivermectin should do it, so fingers crossed. She apparently sees a lot of travelers with it so that increases my confidence in her.
I guess on the positive side If I have any intestinal parasites they'll be good and dead.
Liking of scabies is not quite the response I'm going for but you understand. Also, your parasite comment is making me chuckle. Way to look for the positive in this situation.
