I am potty training kid #2. Somehow I have completely forgotten how it all works!!
Here's what's going on - She knows when she has to pee/poop and is holding it for a super long time. She wants to sit on the potty but doesn't actually go. It's like she doesn't know how to let it out. When she has to go she is afraid to get up from the potty because she says she doesn't want to pee on the floor. Overall she is just a crabby and miserable kid because she is so uncomfortable from having to pee.
So ultimately she is only peeing when she is asleep (naps and bedtime) and sometimes when we are in the car for longer than 20 min.
DCP taught DD "To let her water out" and "make it rain."
So damn dumb but DD thought it was hilarious so whatever.
She may also not be entirely ready? Wanting to do it is a big part of potty training as well. If it stresses her out I'd probably keep practicing but not push it either. This isn't something you can control for her, kwim?

I'm happy to wait but she really wants to use the potty. Only wants to wear undies, goes to sit on the potty when she has to pee but then ... nothing.
She won't pee in a diaper unless she's sleeping or in the car for a long time. So we are still stuck with the issue of her holding it for hours.
Thank you all! My older daughter ended up having some issues that took precedence so we had to put a hold on the potty stuff. She's still holding it in her diaper but we'll tackle it in a week or so.
Run the tap? Might help her let go when she hears the water running. Or let her sit there forever. I used to read l books there and play the iPad. Maybe she will forget the pressure and let go.
