So, like I said in the Saturday thread, yesterday I decided the nursery NEEDED to get done yesterday. And so now it's done!
Our constraints were: Team Green, and we wanted to keep the guest bed for when people came to visit.
I'm still not 100% on the red on the guest bed, I'm worried it's a little overwhelming, and I was thinking of blue just to keep the room from being too feminine in case it's a boy, but I really love how everything came together.
My "nursing corner." The nightstand holds breastpads, my pump parts, etc. When we ordered the rug from etsy we got a "surprise thank you" throw pillow, so I decided to just use that instead of going and getting something else.
We're reusing the same crib we did with my son, but got new bedlinens. And I refurbished his mobile to fit with the theme of the room.
The middle print was the inspiration for the room. I love how it turned something stereotypically girly (rainbows) into something that worked for either sex. I had an etsy seller match the colors for the two smaller rocket prints. And the little stuffed sprites were one of the first sewing projects I did as a child.
We already had the Hemnes dresser for my son, so we got him a new "big boy" dresser and moved this into the nursery. I painted new knobs for it because I felt like we had a lot of rainbows going on and needed more rockets.
Great job! It's so original and it turned out fantastic. I agree with you on the bedspread. You have every color to work with so I'd like to see some contrast between the bed and pillows. You could still keep the red quilt but fold it up and lay it across the end, hotel style, over a blue quilt.
I am also cracking up that you made that bed fit in there when I am thinking how wonderful it will be to tell MIL that the guest bed no longer exists. heh.

Well if I didn't where would DH and I sleep? ;-)
Honestly it's for people other than my MIL. Like when my mom comes down to watch my son while we're at the hospital, or when our friends visit when the baby is old enough to stay in his/her brother's room for a couple of nights.

This is a debate we are having at the moment. It would be really tight in there with both, but it may be worth it for a few months to avoid having to buy a bassinet or co-sleeper. We shall see. Either way, we will get rid of the (twin) bed currently in that room with time.
P.S. I don't think that red is too feminine. I also don't think that navy (or blue in general) is strictly masculine, but I like the red in there.
