my sister's childhood BFF died this past weekend, just 29 years old. this family and my family were very very close for years and years. the deceased's older sister was my BFF until high school, and her mother was the first person to hold me when I was born (my dad wasn't in the c-section). we all lost contact with each other but they were a big part of our lives for over 25 years.
visitation/wake is tomorrow and funeral is Friday. I cannot attend either, so I was going to send flowers. umm... how do I do that? I've always personally attended funerals for people I was close to, or sent a card if I wasn't close. in this case, the only reason I'm not attending is because I cannot.

You can have them delivered to the funeral home (or wherever the wake is being held) Typically then they are also transferred over to the church/wherever the ceremony is held.
Call the local florist. Ask them to deliver flowers to the funeral home. You can specify price and type of flower and the wording on the card. I'm sorry for your loss. It's always hard when someone young dies.
