This doesn't really work if you have kids, correct? I've been wanting to get this, but 99% of the time I am flying with my young children, and they can't get pre check for themselves, correct? Or was I mislead my the TSA agent who wouldn't let them go into the pre check line the one time we were randomly selected for it?
My 4 and 7 year olds have global entry, and have had it for a year. They get pre check with it. But under 12 they could go with us anyway through pre check.

You can take your kids in pre-check even if they aren't enrolled/its not on their boarding pass. I do this with my 3-year-old all the time.
Global Entry is different. The child has to actually be enrolled to take advantage of Global Entry benefits -- they don't get to piggyback off their parent.
I've taken the baby with me through pre-check several times. Doesn't have it yet, and it's easier to take me and the baby through a separate line by myself than for all three of us to go through the same (non-pre-check) line. And sometimes if they're out busy they'll let H through pre-check with us.
H is pre-check because he's AD military. The one time we've all flown together they made me take both kids through the regular line by myself while H went pre-check. ::RAGE::

I got pre-check for free, but to get it for my son (17), I'd have to pay, and it's just not worth it for one last trip with him (especially since we'll be going through at 5 am on a Tuesday).
Was texting about this thread to my work bestie who has a little girl. Her pro tip: print out the guidelines from TSA website and have that handy in your wallet (or on your phone) - then u can quickly and efficiently smack TSA agents who don't know the policy around.
Can u see why I love this woman!? She was flying solo with her little on x country and they tried to re route her to "no check" as we call it - yeah, that didn't happen.

This is what I do. I also print any applicable car seat regulations to show snotty flight attendants. They never even read them. As soon as I pull out the file folder of paperwork they just let me go.

I was just about to ask if anyone had tried this. We just got pre-check, partially because whenever we travel it's easier with the kiddo to not also be dealing with our stuff.
The rules are 12 & under can go with the parent but I saw them being turned away at Dallas Love Field last weekend.
DD (4) has global entry. She had to go through the same process we did for it, including the interview.
LOL. How did they interview a four year old?
It was cute but basically he asked her name, how old is she, does she go to school, like school, favorite character and just kept her talking while he did her fingerprints.
