At what age do kids stop riding in strollers?

How long did you use your stroller? I want a new one, but not if he's going to be out of it soon. How did you know when to stop using it?

We mainly use it for walking around the neighborhood.

Ds still rides in the double stroller when he's being a butt. It's nice Im able to confine him when he won't listen. He's 3.5.

I'd say he had the energy to walk at the zoo and stuff by 2.5, but not the discipline.

Lucy's a lazy ass, she still uses one when we are out walking all day. And bonus, since she's four, is that she really looks ridiculous in an umbrella stroller so I have to schlep the jogger everywhere. Oh well, at least it's got cup holders!

Jack is 4.5 and hasn't rode in one for over a year. He rides his balance bike when we go on walks.

We have a wagon, and a balance bike.

E's a late walker, so he still loses his balance quite a bit. He's only used the balance bike for a couple of minutes in the house.

this is my kid, right now, at 2. she could walk and walk and walk. but that walking would actually be her running and running and running with no regard that her father or I would be yelling at her to stop or come back.

If you have a wagon and you use the stroller for the neighborhood, I wouldn't buy a new one.

We use ours to walk downtown, back and forth to pinky's dance class, all over the mall so I'm sure I'll be using ours until the kid is three or so. Otherwise, I couldn't see using it past 2.5.

Will turns four on Sunday and we still occasionally use the stroller if we go to the mall or a large zoo or something. He inevitably wants us to carry him and his ass is til heavy for that.

E's about 32# and 36". There's no way I'd be able to carry him around for a long period of time.

We're also most likely "one and done" so E would be the only one using it.

I want you people to tell me how you shop with your 3 year olds unrestrained without them hiding in the clothes racks and shoplifting and disappearing in 5 seconds only to be found when you intersect with a concerned mother that found your kid trying to play with her kid across the store.

Lol, that's exactly what I was thinking of while reading this!
I use my BOB pretty much daily. I walk everywhere I can...the gym, the pool, friend's houses, the park, the playground. My girls are 26 months and there's no way they could walk very far, or with an focus, long enough to actually reach our destination in less than 3 hours without it (or in one piece). We also use it at bigger places like the zoo, aquarium, festivals, outdoor venues, malls, etc. I assume we will still be using it very heavily in a year or so, too, probably longer.

L is 3 and is in the stroller about 1/2 the time.

She's actually started walking with me to preschool. We do walk a block/carry a block. I love it, much easier than pushing the stroller up our giant hill.

My kid has wanted nothing to do with the stroller since 10 months old when she started walking. I can keep her sitting in the cart for maybe 10-15 minutes tops. It makes for a very stressful shopping trip when I'm by myself.

Oh, my girls do like to walk, but it's extremely aimless still. A rock distracts them. And there are two, and they go opposite directions. At the zoo, for example, we will walk to the big cats in the stroller, and then they will get out to look at the animals, and then hop back in to ride to the monkeys.

Yeah, S goes slow, then runs ahead, goes here an there, then wants me to carry him. I'm guessing H may be against the stroller when we go out, but he's also willing to carry him on his shoulders when needed. Fuck a bunch of that shit. When I'm alone, I take the stroller. I let him walk but when he doesn't listen or runs off, he gets the stroller.

My son is 3.5 and we still use a stroller quite a bit. I have an umbrella stroller I use when we go to the mall, street fairs, and theme parks. I still use my Bob as well for jogging and taking him to the park. Although he is getting heavier and pushing him in the Bob is sooo hard. I have a feeling the bob may be retired soon.

Do you keep the tires inflated? Because I have the duallie and I'm pushing about 60 lbs of kid plus the weight of the stroller and all our shit, and it's light as a feather in the BOB. It starts to feel cumbersome when the tires get low...

I think some kids just aren't wanderers. I love that Kohl's has those carts with the seats in front now. But I've seen little girls carrying clothes for their Mothers and staying right by their sides. That would NEVER happen for us. He's like "oh, look...a thing" and goes off to check it out. Even in a regular, smaller clothing store he'd be under the racks.

In reality Jack has just learned how to stay with me. Keep in mind until recently I only had one kid so I was able to just focus on him as far as keeping track of him. And this didn't start happening until he was probably around 3 and a half. Plus I take any opportunity I can get to wear him out. Sitting in a stroller wouldn't do that for me.
