H's Birthday is approaching and I thought I'd replace his coffeemaker since the handle is about to fall off. Not interested in Keurig systems, but a system without a carafe might be nice. What's your favorite coffeemaker for $80-ish or less?
I have a cuisinart one I really like because it has a thermal carafe. It's really sturdy, and there's no burner. The hot coffee stays in the thermal carafe and seriously stays hot for hours.

I second this rec; glass carafes suck because--in addition to being fragile--the coffee sits on a burner getting scorched. Coffee is delicate stuff--sitting on a burner is bad news. Being programmable is nice, too; I get it all ready go before I go to bed and the coffee is done when I'm ready to pour and run out the door.
I've just got a cheap aluminum one, but it's great for making iced coffee and generally just strong, delicious coffee. But more labour intensive than a normal drip maker.
