We live with my parents and it's been fine. Also my brother and SIL live here too (well they were gone for a while but just came back) I kind of like living with lots of family. Lots of help, building good relationships, etc. and to save that much money is a huge plus.
My parents live with us and for the most part it's been fine, but I do miss my space. Knowing that your sister lives there, too, would definitely send me into the camp of option #2. I do get wanting to be close to family during deployments, but I would also consider option #3, staying where you , as well.
For me, the money wouldn't be as big of a consideration as the move itself. It is a bit crazy to me to move an entire household of furniture and belongings for less than a year. Are there any furnished rentals nearby your parents?
Oh and if I am honest with myself, I'd probably stay put because I have my network here and it seems like a lot of work. Can your mom come for a few weeks when your H leaves to help with the baby? You could pay to fly her in?

So neither of your parents kids (or at least the two of you if there are more) are capable of living on their own? WTF?
Option 2, no question. I have friends that have a wonderful relationship with their parents that lived with them while they did a 6 month complete house Reno. At the end it was really stressful for everyone and their relationship suffered for awhile. The $ savings would be great but there is something to be said for having your own space and sanity.
