Replacement windows for our house. We signed a contract for $48k. I was really hoping it would be $35-40k.
On the flip side, we are having cement steps poured to get from the main level of our garage to the basement. We budgeted for $25k and those came in at $21k.
The extra cost for the windows means we have to delay finishing our basement until new year.
$48k for windows?!? Is that normal,or do you have a ton of windows?

We got a quote for seal coating and filling some small cracks in our driveway and it was only $500. We have a large driveway and this was less than I expected. The guy was a little flaky in when he was coming by to do the quote and who knows how long it will be until he does the job, but he did come recommended to us by someone DH works with. And it's not like seal coating is something that isn't going to have to be redone in a few years anyway, so if it's not the best job, it's not a tragedy. I'm so over trying to get sealcoaters to call me back and show up to give quotes.
Our flights to Ireland in September were only $722 -- less than my recent flights to Detroit and New Hampshire! (Paid for with credit card points, so even better -- but the number of points needed was tied to flight price). And I'm pleasantly surprised by how cheap our hotels in Ireland will be.
I also just stayed for three nights in London and the hotel was $417 -- incredibly cheap when you consider the exchange rate. It was a very nice hotel, and was cheaper than the not nice hotels in LCOL areas in the U.S. that I've stayed in recently.

I had no idea windows were This damn expensive
We have windows in almost every room that go from floor to ceiling. Because the windows are less than 18 inches off the floor, they had to be made out of special tempered glass to be up to code. This made them quite a bit more expensive.

Yes, we have floor to ceiling windows in almost every room. Since they are less than 18" above the floor, they need to be made out of special tempered glass to be up to code. That jacks the price way up.
This is the first summer that my oldest will be going to a day camp instead of just the older-kid "camp" at daycare.
I was not prepared for the cost of camp, at all. Holy crap.
I do not even work full days, and I STILL would not be able to do drop-off/pick up within most camps standard hours, so I would have needed to pay additional for before and after care as well.
Thankfully I found some place affordable. But I almost cried looking at prices for 6 other local camps before I found this one.
