I joined the Y, and I'm excited to go to classes while I've got 2 months off. But after school starts, it's 7:30-5 almost every day. How do I cook dinner and get her to bed and still go to the gym? Daycare is open 6:30-6:30. Right now her bedtime is 7. Should I move bedtime later? What do you guys do?
I go with him, then home for dinner, but our day is shifted about an hour earlier than yours. Could you plan to go twice per week after school, and then on the weekend? That sounds more manageable than going every night. Also, his bedtime is 745.
DD's awake schedule is generally 7:30 am - 8:30 pm. I always had aspirations of waking up at 5 and going to the gym and making it back by 6:30. In reality, I never made it to the gym until my husband lost his job and has been home from earlier this month. I wake up at 7 am and get to the gym by 7:30 and come back by 9. It's not great that he lost his job, but I really needed something to get me going and this turned out to be it.
Sorry, not helpful to your situation, just commiseration that it the gym is hard to fit it in to our schedules with toddlers.
We do make your own pizzas, quesadillas, sandwiches, or something similarly easy for dinner on gym nights. I go from 5:45-7. It is a rush to bed time, but worth it. Bed time is a little later for us, 7:30-8:00. I should also add my gym is a minute away. That helps the time crunch.
I run at lunch (we have showers at the office), or go before work. But work starts for me at 8:30 or 9.
You're a single mom now, right? TBH with that schedule I would not kill myself to get to the gym. If you can run at lunch once or twice a week and do workout DVDs/YouTube here and there, give yourself the title of supermom.

I'm not sure running at noon in Florida is feasible lol.
I think I am going to buy an elliptical and see if I can do that at home from 5-5:30am before showering. I literally cannot think of when else I can realistically go to gym.

Heh. That's fair, a brisk walk carrying a Big Gulp of water or Gatorade is plenty of exercise
I try to go after school 2 days a week, and then on weekends. But, I can get there by 4:15 and be home by 5:30. If I was in your situation I would try to shift bedtime later.
I am also very seriously considering buying a class pass, because in my area they have classes pretty much any time of day, so I would have the option of working out at 5am or 4pm or after my H gets home. Not sure if they have it in your area though.
I don't go during the week unless it's during the work day, and I've been too swamped for that lately. But when DH was home in the evenings during his month off between jobs, I used to go around 8, after I had put DS to bed and while DH was doing bedtime with DD.
Eta: I forgot that you don't have any relief in the evening, so ignore the second part of my answer. Yeah, during the work day might be your best bet, but I forget how old your child is. I wouldn't screw around with my 9-month-old's bedtime routine on a regular basis.
I don't go. I know that isn't a popular answer but between work and pick up and drop off (I do both 99% the time) I don't feel like I have time. Working out on my lunch hour isn't supported in my corporate culture and that would be my preferred option. Don't feel too bad if you look at you situation and find that it is just really hard to fit it in between work/kids/DH/friends etc.
When my son starts K my kids will be in the same school and DH will do drop off and I will pick up and then I will go to the gym in the AM before going to work. It is only ~1.5 years away.
In the nicer weather I only go to the gym weekend mornings and on mon nights. Otherwise during the week I have been rushing home from daycare and throwing him in the jogging stroller for a short run

I go once or twice a week after work and run 1-2 times on the weekends. In your case, I would go 1-2 times/week after classes, and plan a very easy dinner. Then I'd go once on the weekend if they have childcare.
I also wouldn't be too hard on myself if I didn't always make it to work out.
I never go :-( I really only enjoy doing yoga classes and can't make them (or any other kind of gym trip) work with my schedule without sacrificing too much sleep or work time.
I'm up by 6:30, out the door at 7:20, at work by 8, leave by 5:45, home 6:30. Dinner eaten by 7:30, DS in bed by 8, then I may do another couple hours of work or watch a little tv and go to bed earlier. GAH. That sucks.
Ditto so many of the others that I just could never seem to fit it in. My gym membership went unused for many months before I was able to cancel.
How far away is the gym from your house? Do they offer childcare there that you could use maybe 1-2x a week?
Yes, it's pretty close to the house. They have child care open until 7 or 8 during the week and half a day Saturday.
I'd probably take advantage of that then. It'll probably cost more (or maybe the Y is better about this?) but it would be worth it to be able to GO. And not bend over backwards for a schedule that just can't make it work.

Pre this baby who is 4 weeks old, DH and I switched every other night after E was in bed. So we were usually there 8:30-9-:30 pm, it's late but we stay up late and don't get up till 6:30 am
