My SBIL, his girlfriend, and her three kids are all leaving town today. That means Andrew and I will have the condo all to ourselves again and things will be calm and quiet. Two more days until NYC! I'm also taking myself out to a nice dinner tomorrow night. Since my flight is at 6:00am on Wednesday, I'm leaving Andrew at the ILs tomorrow night. I'm going to drop him off, then go sit peacefully by myself, eating food that Andrew doesn't like. I can't wait.
We did end up gong in a date yesterday. Dh convinced me to see Mad Max bc it's "feminist" and I mean I guess it was kind of women power lol but was mostly just 2 hours 30 min of non stop fast driving and shooting. Even Dh thought it was way too much. We went out for noodle soup and gelato also though and may had a blast with the in laws.
Today we are going to BBQ sausages at my parents house and I'm making brownies.
What I'm really looking forward to though is tomorrow. I have an spot for a prenatal massage and then I'm going out to lunch by myself I figure it will be my last time out alone for a long time.

Good lord my husband is so helpless sometimes. I just had to fix our lawn mower. The wheel was loose and he had apparently taken it off completely and put it back on wrong and couldn't figure out what was wrong. I asked if he looked at the good side to compare and see what was different. "Oh I didn't think to do that." Then when he goes to tighten the wheel back on with a socket wrench he goes "this wrench is cool but I can only get it to loosen things, not tighten" then I showed him the switch to make it tighten vs loosen and his mind was blown. I just...have no words sometimes....

DH is the same way sometimes. I end up asking him how the hell he became a scientist if he can't figure ____ out.
Does anyone find It annoying how places list the calories in everything on the menu now? Like that cinnamon roll looks good but 650 calories? How can I buy it knowing that. I'd rather not know lol

SBIL and his entourage were heading to the Children's Museum today. They had asked us to go with them, but it's going to be packed and Andrew is coming off of a crazy, shitty week, so I declined. SMIL then offered to take him. You want to deal with the tiny terror? Go ahead!! So now I'm sitting ALONE. ALL BY MYSELF. I'm going to shower. Hell, I might take a nap. Right now, I'm vegging on the couch watching HGTV. It's really the only thing I miss after dropping cable.
We need a house with bedrooms on a separate floor from the living space. Sleeping in is impossible. Why doesn't my H just take them down to the playroom so I can sleep? I swear he lets them play right outside the bedroom door.
I have a jar of one time use foam ear plugs to use on my sleep in morning. They work really well.
So much for my plans of mulching the back garden today. It was sunny when I got into the shower and by the time I was ready to go outside it was pouring!! Hello Chicago summer. I missed you and your warmth and random rainstorms.

Ughhhh A just dumped water all over my new car! I asked him what happened, he says "mom, my feet were dirty! I HAD to clean them!" This is why I can't have nice things!
I am at the lab doing my glucose test. I went to get out of the chair when my name was called and my hips gave out on me and I fell. Hard. In front of at least 50 people. And no one offered to help me up. So here I am struggling to get up , obviously pregnant, in tears and finally the lab tech notices. I am now stuck in a small room with a bed for the next hour and a half. With sore hips and bruised knees and ego.
More news on the state of my cervix (TMI warning obviously)
I think I just lost some plug. No photographic evidence though.
....
In other news, my old iphone 4 died this morning and was subsequently revived at the mobile store. Despite that it still has some life in it, I wound up upgrading to a refurbished 5s. I feel like the fanciest of the fancy because I'm now only one generation behind.

So H and I have been thinking about getting another cat to keep our cat company. We ended up bringing 2 kittens (8 week old sisters) home. Our cat is PISSED. Any cat people know how to easily incorporate our new additions?

Nothing but time and patience. They need to sort out their territories - when DH and I merged our two cats they literally fought EVERYDAY for six months. They eventually became begrudging companions.

We have the kittens in the bathroom and Ruby is still out roaming. When we brought them in the house Ruby was hissing.

I think I read somewhere that you can try putting the new ones in a crate and letting the other one become familiar with them that way for a little while, then role reversing.

I'm cracking up so bad lauranicole91! Just tell him, "thank goodness you're pretty!"
laurack I went to Starbucks yesterday to try the s ' mores frapp and it was like 500 calories. Guess that just means no lunch for me! It was totally worth it though!
We're having a low key BBQ with a few friends today, but so far no one is here yet. We have waaaay too much food for the amount of people we invited, but oh well. At least I have a clean house for a few minutes!

Seriously. At least he admits to his total unhandiness(that's totally a word right?) vs pretending he knows it all and constantly fucking things up. When he couldn't figure it out he came and got me to come fix it. Haha.
Also, s'mores frapp...yum. My lack of free Starbucks is one thing about my maternity leave that sucks. Womp womp.

I'm at my parents house and it's such a joke. They live 10 minutes from me but there's nothing here that implies they have grandchildren. It's borderline hoarders status for everything else. I can't believe I thought it would be possible to eat a meal here, as there's nowhere for S to sit and I have to keep her from playing with needles that are lying around. Needles!
On the plus side, I'm sitting next to some of my old Nintendo games and I really want to play.
We're supposed to be getting a new oven today. Our last one wouldn't stay off and we haven't had a working oven since last Monday. I hate waiting around all morning for the appliance man

I've spent all morning cleaning the play room. DH has been cleaning out the garage. It's been raining on and off. It's super humid. I'm so sweaty and sinky!
My H took Noah to his parents house this morning and I got to sleep in. It was amazing. Noah helped my mil in the garden and he brought home a bunch of lettuce and veggies so we had a big fresh garden salad with lunch. it was yummy and Noah thought it was so cool to eat the food he picked...I think I might need to start a garden.
