H's cousin has 3 kids with a very wealthy trust fund kid (like heir to a major US company/fortune). She hangs in their montessori styled home with the kids, and is one of those all natural moms. I really liked her, until her foolishness today.
Apparently she and their 3 kids all have Whooping Cough. She's blaming it on a vaccinated baby (who she thinks she caught it from) and says it doesn't matter that her kids aren't vaxxed, since the WC vax isn't effective. Basically she has all kinds of info, none of which is correct. Then she posts a Mercola article.
We are not clear whether the kids are under doctor's care - she said she has "done a lot of reading" and there aren't really any treatments so they're just hanging out, since it's "not life threatening".
One of their kids is a baby.
OMFG. I am not friends with her. H is. I think it's good I am not, because I wouldn't be able to hold my tongue.
I don't understand how she thinks the VACCINATED baby is spreading disease. Is she confused about how vaccines work? The whole story is unfortunate.
Because the vaccine isn't effective. SO it's actually the vaxed people that are a danger to the non-vaxed (she said this).
Of course, it is effective, it just wears off long term. But she is dumb.
LOL I am seriously wondering how she is taking such a wild leap with her "logic." OK, if the vaccine "doesn't work," wouldn't vaccinated people be at the same risk of contracting disease as an unvaccinated person? It sounds to me as if she believes the vaccine itself is the direct CAUSE for contracting an illness.
Damn. I would be banging my head against a wall if I had to listen to her!
She has a baby with whooping cough and she's not seeking treatment? That bitch is too dumb to care for a houseplant, let alone human beings.
She didn't outright say whether they've seen a doctor. She said they are not doing antibiotics because - wait for it - her baby had an awful diaper rash from the last time she took them and her reading has told her that antibiotics only lessen the symptoms slightly, but have no real benefit.

This is getting really scary. Even with the debunking of the autism cinnection, people in huge numbers are starting to buy into this shit. Intelligent, educated people who think they have a leg up bc they can do their own research. It's total insanity.
Maybe you should post some research about the long term repercussions of not treating illnesses like WC, or the damage that a high grade fever from the measles or measles can cause.
H posted something about her needing to find reputable sources, since Mercola is not.
I would consider that child neglect, since whooping cough can be extremely dangerous for young children. Those kind of people make me sick. What an idiot.

lol...i got into a discussion the other day with a woman about vaccinations for whooping cough. she also cited a mercola article. i am guessing it is the same one, basically stating that the vaccination is what causes the pertussis, hence her believing that the vaccinated child caused it.
This makes me so mad. My doctor's nephew and his wife were anti getting vaxed for WC when she was still pregnant (my OB recommended me, my husband and anyone who would be in contact with the baby get the WC booster before birth-which we did). They did not get vaxed and the baby contracted whooping cough (baby wasn't old enough to receive the vax at the time) and spent 2 months in the hospital on a ventilator before he was well enough to come home.
