I am not sure what I am looking for- someone to tell me what to do I guess lol
our dishwasher and double wall ovens are OLD, like almost 20 years, no idea how they still work old, and actually the dishwasher doesn't really work so it's getting replaced asap. We both really like the slate ones GE has now but that's only through GE so I don't know what to do. I want to upgrade with the "best" appliances we can get for each thing, whether it be from the same line or not so the slate obviously severely limits that. If we don't get slate we're going with black, I hate stainless
tell me what to do- go for look and get the slate or suck it up buttercup and get black but have more selection to pick from with other companies? any advice at all is appreciated.

What do you hate about stainless? Would a brushed stainless or something help if you're worried about fingerprints? What colors are your floors, cabinets, counters? I would hate to have big chunks of black in my kitchen, but that's because I went for a light-and-airy look as much as possible for my small space.

I just don't like anything about stainless, I don't really have a reason! so, not the fingerprint issues, just the look itself.
I don't have a current picture, I should really take one, this is from the listing 3 years ago, but this is the cabinets and back splash- light tan since you can't really tell. the walls are now pretty much the same color as the backsplash, curtains are gone

I think stainless would be out of place there. I'd definitely just do black and get the absolute best appliances you can afford. Bonus: black will probably be cheaper than stainless, so you can maybe upgrade to a better model of each appliance.
Lol at 1990s appliances being super old (says the girl who recently had a harvest gold range, circa 1970). But yeah, I'm not a huge fan of stainless. I like black. But GE makes decent appliances, so just take a look and if you like the ones that come in slate, go with it.

lol. I will channel my father right now- the 1970s ones were made to last! things these days are all disposable! :::mumbles more crotchety ramblings:::
I am kidding but omg our dishwasher sounds like you're going through a car wash, it's SO FLIPPING LOUD. and it doesn't clean half the stuff

H really liked the appearance of the slate or smudge proof stainless appliances, but because the brands didn't line up with what I wanted, we are going with white appliances. And, a pp was right- I think we're saving money/getting upgraded models because we're not getting stainless.
