Former Wisconsin governor and HHS secretary Tommy Thompson won the GOP nod. He'll face. Rep. Tammy Baldwin in November to replace retiring senator Herb Kohl.
I have mixed feelings about his win. Curious if anyone else (Republicans particularly) followed the race and has any thoughts.
I'm ever so slightly optimistic that despite the Ryan pick, Wisconsin will go for Obama, which will carry Baldwin.
I am glad that no matter who wins, we will have someone with political experience. Hovde was running on the non-politician businessman thing, but really, we already got that when Johnson defeated Feingold. For the sake of the state, I want someone who's been around the block and knows people and knows how things work in Congress. I am relieved that we'll get that regardless of who wins the general.
