I used to. In Illinois it's free if you include a number. You just have to request it, so my mom has her initials like, YZ 1. Now I don't. I just don't care enough but it might be cool to get my daughter's name which is short and not very common.

They aren't real common around here (they cost more). One of the best ones I've seen was "DAM JOB" for a guy who worked at a dam. One of the worst was a lady who got "RED VET" for her red corvette.
When I was in high school, two guys I was hanging out with were arguing over the year of a corvette. I looked at them and told them "it's a '61". So they started telling me I was wrong, because... When the owner was walking up, I repeated that it was a '61. They kept arguing, but asked the owner, and he just said "she's right". So, they started quizzing me about how I could possibly know that, since I wasn't a car person. I told them to look at the plates... "61 VET".
I used to. It was supposed to be my first name, which was the perfect length for a CA plate, and was available when I got my car in high school. My dad went to register it and order the plate for me, though, and thought it'd be HILARIOUS to spell my name phonetically instead of how it actually is. I was annoyed at first, but then it came to mean a lot to me, especially after he passed away a few years later. I was sad to give it up when we moved to Portland, but they didn't make me turn them in when I got Oregon plates, so I still have them, thankfully.

Same here. Almost all of my HS friends had one. They often doubled as email addresses, too. Lots of nicknames followed by birth/graduation years. In college, I got new plates related to my major.
I no longer live there & won't pay for vanity plates. I don't even know what I'd put on it!

Nope but I think I read once that NH has the highest number of vanity plates issued. Every time we drive through we see so many of them. Like more vanity then not.

Virginia is first followed by NH. I live in NH, I do have a vanity plate
