Do they not come with instructions? Who puts their kid in a Bumbo on a table and then leaves them unsupervised? I have a feeling that *this* is the major issue, not the seat itself but people not following instructions and not using common sense.
Yeah, seems like common sense to me not to put it on a raised surface or put your wiggly child in it. My sister gave me hers that she used with her kids, so I might get the restraint belt that they are offering.
They should really just take this thing off the market since its only real advantage is having your kid sitting on the table or counter so you can get shit done. If they're going to be on the floor, there are a hundred options that at preferable to some awkward chair.
Mine loves it and prefers it to her bouncer, p&p, boppy, tummy time blanket, or swing. I put her in it on the floor when I shower or use the bathroom. She is almost too big for it though.
I wonder how many of the parents who put their kids in it unsupervised on a counter also think it's ok to let their baby play with scissors since they can't run with them yet.

I kind of feel sorry for this company. It seems like their recalls have mostly been about people being stupid in using the product -- putting their kids on high surfaces.
I'm pissy about the number of baby items I've had that have been recalled, though. DD1's Graco infant seat was recalled before she even used it -- because kids were pulling bits off the underside of the cover, so the cover was recalled & replaced. Our high chair (Chicco Polly) was just recalled after two kids using it with no issues; because it has pegs on the legs that stick out and can cause lacerations. Now the Bumbo -- which I just sold on CL yesterday.
All of these were reputable brands, and the items themselves gave us zero issues. But because of the recalls, it's illegal for me to sell them, and even giving them away seems to be a legal gray area, even if the recall has been addressed according to manufacturer instructions. I've already thrown out the car seat, which had a year of use left and was in perfect condition with a new, unrecalled cover. I didn't know the Bumbo was recalled before I sold it. I may still see if I can give away the high chair, because it irks my hippy heart to trash it when after I get the peg repair kit, it *should* be considered safe and usable. But I may end up throwing it away, because I don't want to risk being liable if I give away something with a known recall.
