When I used to interview for Sped positions, I'd wear something business casual, something easy to move around in, in case they have you hang out in a classroom for the day.

For field day, I would wear pants and shoes that are easy to walk in. I taught elem sped for a long time and we all wore jeans and t-shirts for field day.

Field day is a run around, busy kind of day. wear something you'll be comfortable in and can move around in easily. And won't mind sweating in. Obviously you want to look nice, but I don't see this as a "wear a business outfit" kind of event.
Field day makes it tough. Are they going to invite you to participate at all? I was once thrown into field day without notice and was really uncomfortable in my work clothes. I'd do something like a pixie pant, blouse and a short sleeve cardigan, assuming it is hot where you are. I'd also accessorize with things that could easily be taken off if you do get in on the field day games. And wear plenty of sunscreen!

YES! It's a job interview, but this isn't an office job. Wear something that looks nice and is appropriate, but that doesn't look out of place or that would make you feel uncomfortable if they ask you to help with the balancing the water balloon on a spoon station, kwim?
Eh. Its for an interview. I cannot imagine she is going to be playing tag and kickball and in the middle of a water fight. I'd probably err on the dressier side than the casual side, personally.
These outfits are adorable, but not appropriate for an elementary school field day in SC in late May LOL
I agree. For heaven's sake, we could wear shorts on field day at my school. They had to be knee-length (or close to) but it was often in the 90s with high humidity and the field was a muddy mess by the afternoon from all the water games. We often jumped in and played with the kids, which they loved. These outfits would be a big mistake, mostly because they would make her seem very out of touch.

This could be very much what they'll be looking for with her!! She could actually very well be playing tag! Who the heck knows. But she needs to dress in a way that will let her move and be active. This "interview" is basically an on the job interview where she's going to be around a bunch of elementary school aged kids. I'm sure the people interviewing her are going to want to see how she interacts w/ the kids. And if that means getting caught up in a game of tag... then so be it.

Cropped pants (any color is fine) and a nice short sleeve top. I'd do loafers, flats or solid color slip on Ked type shoes, depending on what you're most comfortable running around in.

I agree with Ankle pants, flats and a nice short sleeve shirt/blouse. Basically I'd dress a touch nicer than I would if I was already working there and attending field day since it's still an interview, but you should be able to move around and participate if necessary.

I agree with shorter pants, like Elsa's last picture. I'd probably do a dress t and flats. Yes, it's a job interview, but I think showing up to field day (where the staff is going to be wearing jeans or shorts and spirit t-shirts) in something that you can't run around/kick a ball in may cause them to think you are clueless.
I probably would've asked what clothing was appropriate when I got the call.

This. I would've asked if I was participating or watching then the interview. Similar to my yoga interviews. I ask if I'll be doing a demo first and then the interview or what. Some studios I had to meet hr after so I knew to bring clothes to change.
It's funny you say this - DSs is in 2 weeks. They ask for volunteers and it sounds like a LOT of parents go to it. I realized DH is off that week. I was all "YAY!!!! YOU get to volunteer!". I so do NOT want to go.
