My 14yo dd just finished the Wonder Years (yes, it is confirmed kevin arnold is a dick) and started The Secret Life of the American Teenager. Damn! I could start a drinking game for everytime sex is mentioned and be drunk before episode 2. Have you watched it? Would you let your teen watch it. There is a ton of underage sex, pregnancy and even oral mentioned.
I turned it off and we are watching Dance Moms right now. But, I know if she really wanted she could find way worse on the internet and even on Netflix. Is it better to just suck it up and watch it with her so she knows she can talk to me about this stuff. Or shut it off and hope she makes right decisions knowing I don't approve.
I watched the first few seasons but never finished the show.
I'm not so sure why I watched as much as I did, it was so dumb and the acting was horrible.
It is why I cannot get into divergent. She was so...ho hum in the show that I will forever think of her that way. She is sort of like kristen (kristin?) stewert in that way. No smiles, ever

I watched it all. It sucked at the end, but I still watched, of course. I would let a teenager watch it. The acting is so, so terrible. Hilariously so.

I didn't watch the last season. Spoil it for me? lol.

I watched the whole series. It is so hilariously bad and completely unrealistic. They do talk about sex a lot, but I'd probably let a 14 year old watch it.

Amy and Ricky said they eloped, but didn't. They lived together over the butcher shop. Amy's annoying sister is basically written out of the series. She's at culinary school or some shit. Amy's mom becomes a lesbian with Kit from a League of Their Own. Adrienne keeps trying to steal Ricky away from Amy. Amy is going to go to college in NY and so is Ben so he can win her back. George gets back with his ex-wife. The end.

This is amazing. Thank you. I've frequently wondered what happened! I watched it all until the last season. For me, *that* is when it jumped the shark. lol
What happened with Jack and the blonde cheerleader?

What happened with Jack and the blonde cheerleader?
She went to Africa and discovered she had a half-sibling there from her dad who died in the plane crash. That might have been in the next to last season. She remained very Christian.
Jack played football at college and got beat up by a pimp.

I knew about the half sibling. Jack being beaten up by a pimp is AMAZING

Yes! This! I enjoyed the books enough, but I haven't even watched the movie because of her. And I hear she's great in it.
I watched the first season, then the first couple episodes of the second. It was so bad.
The first season kind of had a good message buried in there, and it should have ended after one season. But continuing the show took the "lesson" from "Don't get pregnant. Teen pregnancy sucks." to "Naw, it'll work out alright in the end."
I haven't seen enough of it to say if your daughter should watch it. From what I saw of the first season, I would let my 14 year old watch it if he or she was mature enough. At 14 they're hearing all kinds of stuff about sex from friends and online anyway. I think it would be good for her to know she can ask you questions.

Oh yeah, the whole "your rich FIL will buy you a condo for your teenage pregnancy" thing
Was 7th Heaven AS bad? I'm genuinely asking, I don't remember.
The first few seasons weren't, but then yes. Very much so.
Actually, maybe not. They never had a father die in a plane crash as a result of their teenage daughter losing her virginity, so maybe it wasn't quite as creepy.
LOL.
I vaguely remember that the last few seasons of 7H went completely off the rails and errrrrybody was like "WTF is going on?"
And I remember it was super cheesy, but I don't remember feeling as deeply uncomfortable with it as I was with SLOTAM
