Is it every night? DD does this 1-2x a week. I just feed her and she passes out. I assume growth spurt and just brain development. Maybe that's not the right thing to do but since she doesn't do it nightly I wasn't concerned.
And I swear my kids will just wake up one day with teeth. They show all the signs of teething but nothing yet. DD has more worse nights then DS. I always wonder if it's teeth when she has trouble sleeping.

My dds worst sleep was when she first started crawling. She'd wake up trying to crawl in her sleep. It was as if her brain said practice! It lasted two weeks and then she was back to normal
If it's been the past few weeks I think it's become a habit not a need and I'm guessing you will need to do some kind of sleep training. Do you have the ferber book? I'd recommend reading the applicable parts to make you feel better and it and then do a version that works for you.
