Spider bite? She has had this since the day before yesterday. At first it just looked like a mosquito bite, then yesterday I noticed a black dot in the middle, surrounded by white (pus) and red/infected-looking around that. I cleaned it out and put hydrogen peroxide and neosporin on it. Today it isn't as red/infected looking but the white pus area is much bigger. It is probably the size of an eraser on the end of a pencil. Should I do anything else? Take her to the doctor?
As long as the red ring doesn't increase in size, or you see lines coming out of it, probably treating it with neosporin is fine to keep it cleaned. I would hope to see a decrease in it's infected appearance after some more neosporin.

Is it hard and hot? Ellie had a bad spider bite a couple of months ago-at first it looked like a mosquito bite, then turned huge and her leg was swollen and hard and hot in the area. WE called the pediatrician's 24 hour line and they said to ice it and give her benadryl and ibuprofen-luckily we had her checkup the very next day so the pediatrician confirmed it was a spider bite but by then it was getting better. She suggested the ice/benadryl/ibu regimen.
We also had to put bandaids on it because girl would not stop scratching it and we didn't want her to make it worse.
I'm not going to lie, that looks like it could be chicken pox. I know the disease is so rare now that kids are vaxed for it but sometimes that vaccine does not take. I have never seen a spider bite filled with pus like that. Are there any other spots on her?
My chicken pox spots had water not pus. If it was an infected one I'd think she would have more spots by now. But it's a good thing to keep checking her just in case.
