What do you mean by limpy? is she just slow or actually limping?
Our golden has arthritic hips already (wah) and sometimes when there is a significant change in weather he limps a bit, but after a day of "rest" (in quotes bc all that dog does is rest lol) he is better. He was never a big running dog anyway but we stopped completely with even trying to run him once he showed signs of arthritis.
Our lab limps once in a great while and the best we can figure out, it's because he pulls a muscle (it's usually after a big day at the dog park or a day with lots of swimming, so we think he tweaks a muscle or something.)
What kind of dog do you have? Does hip dysplasia run in her family?
Do these problems really show up at 1.5 years old? I always thought that even for dogs that were pre-disposed, it cropped up a bit later in life.
Rarely, but it's possible. I don't know if you'd necessarily see it that severely at 1.5 years, but I know people who have had it identified by x-ray that young, and had surgery done - since it's better to do surgery at a younger age, due to the anesthesia.
SHe's still at the vet. I had to run get DS from school so I have to go back in a few, but Vet thinks it is long-bone something which happens to juvenile dogs
Apparently she has basically growing pain. If she is in as much pain as I was as a teenager when I grew I feel really sorry for her. Vet gave her pain meds and said it will take 1-3 weeks to stop.
