So my goal for my half training this time around is to continue with the strength training that I started over the winter. But I'm curious as to what differences (improvements?) people see in their running when they do both. I just want to know if I am on the right track. I've seen a tiny improvement in my pace so far, but not sure what else I can expect.
Honestly, I don't think it helps my pace, but I think maintaining strength training and stretching/yoga is part of a well balanced work out regiment that helps me prevent injuries.
I agree with the other posters. I credit strength training with helping me stay healthy and injury free while running higher mileage. Alternatively, I can maintain speed while running less mileage b/c of strength training.
It doesn't really help me with pace but i definitly think it helps me stay injury free. Plus i like to have more muscle definition (especially in my arms)
