Someone on here does HR right???
I have a ultra dumb question and need opinions.
I had a phone interview yesterday for a job I'd really like to get. I think I got the phone interview because I did research and emailed the admin for dept that the job is for and introduced myself a couple of days after I sent my resume in for the position.
I'm wondering if it's too much for me to email the person I had the phone interview with to say it was nice speaking with her yesterday.?? Or does that smack of desperation?
UPDATE - Booooo. Got an email this afternoon thanking me for coming in and although she was super impressed with my cv and my interview, but unfortunately they extended the job offer to another candidate, who accepted.
I emailed her back to say thank you for letting me know and to say thank you again for taking the time to speak with me last week. I didn't expect to hear back but she responded with "The same here!" So maybe she'll keep me in mind if an other opening comes up.....
I always like it when they thank me for the interview...but avoid asking for a status update. I'm usually at the mercy of my hiring managers and can't provide an update to the candidate until I hear from them.

Oh ok, wait a couple of days, that's good to know, I'll send the email out on Thursday.
I figured I'd just write, it was great speaking with her, the job sounds like it would be a great fit and I look forward to hearing from her.
I agree with MrsMB. I would send the email today, since you might hear back tomorrow or Friday, but don't mention anything about a follow up. Just thank them for their time.
