If someone served you a dish that violated your dietary restrictions, would you make yourself vomit?
A girl at my BILs birthday party forced herself to vomit because she found out that the potato salad had bacon in it and she recently became vegan. I felt kinda bad for her becuase she looked very upset about it. Also, she didn't make a big deal about it, I just happened to overhear.
JUST ASKING.
More power to you if you can be vegan/vegetarian. I give up meat for religious reasons and it's horrible. I couldn't do it all the time.
Naw, I guess I hate vomit more than I dislike meat.
But I was raised vegetarian, so I really can't digest meat very well. Which means that when H's great second cousin once removed accidentally fed me "vegetarian" mashed potatoes made with chicken stock, I stinky-farted all over the car ride home. And then had to run to the bathroom.

Wait, what? So she ate it & then made herself throw up? That’s weird. I have occasionally eaten something by accident. Only once did I end up throwing up, but it wasn’t forced. I was just so disgusted. The other times, nothing happened. I just lost my appetite. I have spit stuff out of my mouth once I realized it. That’s about it.
ETA: I agree that if she recently became vegan, I don’t understand how she didn’t taste it. It’s been so long for me, that I honestly forgot how stuff tastes. I was served the wrong burrito a few months ago & was chewing on a piece of beef. I seriously couldn’t figure out what it was, but I knew the texture was off. I realized it when I saw a chunk fall out & almost flipped.
:-\ That sounds extreme. Most people may get a little panicky or 'ugh' if they eat a meat item and they don't want to, I assume, but puking it up seems... mmm.. idk. Not good, plus it's being wasted.

No, I wouldn't.
I'm pescetarian and am as strict as I can be with my diet, but I do a lot of international traveling and sometimes I'm not sure if something I'm eating has chicken broth in it or something like that. It's pretty easy to avoid actual meat, but food preparation with meat byproducts is a lot harder to determine.
Shortly after I became pescetarian my dad knowingly served me a dip that had dried beef in it, but didn't tell me until after I'd had a few bites. (It didn't taste like beef!) I was FURIOUS and I had digestive issues all night.
I went psuedo vegan with Nico b/c of food allergies (avoided all dairy and eggs, but still ate meat)....only once did I accidently ingest egg (Spree candy have egg whites in them, FYI!) and thought about vomiting it up for a brief second - then realized that was a ridiculous idea.

She found out afterwards. My sister said it only had a 'little' bit of bacon in it and it was hardly noticeable BUT the girl didn't ask about it before eating it either.
I thought bacon would also be instantly recognizable in a dish but I didn't have any because it had green peppers in it and I wouldn't eat a green pepper if it meant the firing squad.

Plus OMG can you imagine potato salad coming back up?

Yup. I rarely eat rice or soup from a restaurant b/c whenever I ask if it is made with chicken stock, 75% of the time the answer is yes.
No. I was a vegetarian for 11 years. I don't think I ever accidentally ate meat but there were plenty of times when a soup was "vegetarian" but really had beef broth or something in it, and so on. I lived. IMO puking is for if you accidentally ingest, IDK, poison, not food, whatever - not something you have ethical concerns about.

I went to this restaurant up here with my mom and stepdad and inquired about their clam chowder. The waitress confirmed with me that it only had seafood in it, so I ordered it and it was amazing. So freaking good.
I went back a few weeks later with MIL and StepFIL and - just to double-check - asked again.
Turns out the reason why it is so good is because it had BACON stock in it. Bummer.
I have a question, would you eat Bacon Bits?? It's NOT really bacon just bacon flavored! LOL Does that make a differnce? And how do you get bacon flavor anyway?
If she's a vegan, why was she eating potato salad in the first place? Isn't it made with mayo?
I had a really good vegan balsamic and coarse grained mustard potato salad a few weeks ago. The person who made it has a laundry list of dietary restrictions so I know it was legit. lol.
Especially if she's following that diet because of her feelings toward animal rights. It sucks if she consumed meat and normally doesn't, but isn't it MORE disrespectful to the animal to just vomit up the meat and waste it? If she consumes the meat and digests it, at least it's provided nourishment.
