I have percocet. It hurts. And it keeps twitching which makes it hurt. I had a plate and 8 screws put in my ankle yesterday.jenny1980 how were you one day after surgery? I'll call the dr in a bit if I can't stand it anymore. This sucks a big fat dick.
The day after surgery was the worst--it gets much better after that.
Stay on top of your pain meds and ask for more if you need to (I can't take ibuprofen and couldn't have a nerve block, so I ended up with oxycontin in addition because just the Percocet wasn't cutting it the day or two after surgery). Ice, ice, ice and elevate, elevate, elevate.

No nerve block? ?
Yeah I had a low grade fever the day of surgery so the anesthesiologist wouldn't let him do it. SUPER LAME.
I found I metabolized the Percocet really fast. So like I could take one every 4 hours but it would only work for 3 hours and then that hour between and waiting for it to kick in was torture. Once I got the oxycontin (and actually tracked down a pharmacy that carried it), I was in much better shape. I only needed it for a few days.
As others have said, do not wait until you hurt to take your next timed dose. Is there any flexibility in how it is prescribed? (Like take 1-2 tablets every 4 hours). If so, try taking 2 tablets, then one the next time. You might need to take 2 tablets twice in a row to get on top of the pain.....and when you do, do not let it get there again.
I had 4 orthopedic surgeries in 10 months. I got really good at managing how to take my meds and not hurt.
Are you supposed to get up and move regularly? If so, try to time your jaunts after the meds kick in.

Right now I can only get up to go to the bathroom. Which I don't even want to do.

Yeah, I've been there. Moving was utterly miserable and I was pretty much welded to my lift chair. Unfortunately, SO couldn't go to the bathroom for me and a bed pan was unacceptable, so I gritted my teeth and moved.
