Thanks! I need to record it for my kid. He wants to see the newer one and we told the twins they had to watch the older one before we took them to the new one. They ran out of the room yelling last weekend. One of the boys wants another shot at it.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
Not me, but I love that movie. When they see the dinos for the first time, my nerd heart explodes.
I let my kids watch until that part tonight. They were suitably impressed. God, I love this movie. I don't think I've seen it in 15 years, but I still adore it.
I've been reading the book for the first time in I dunno how many years. Thank goodness too because I completely forgot how annoyed I was that they never explained why the Triceratops was sick. The book explains it.
This is in my top 3 for movies behind Singin' in the Rain and Jaws.

Well,why? DOn't leave us hanging.
LOL! Sorry. Distractions!
In the book it was sick Stegos. The animals weren't eating the lilacs as part of their diet. Instead they discovered that the dinosaurs were eating rocks to use as gizzard stones and were inadvertently eating the lilac berries in the same location as the rocks. Every six weeks or so when the rocks wore down, they'd regurgitate them for new rocks. So that's why they were getting sick about every six weeks.

I think it was because the scientists at Jurassic park were mixing species (plants/animals) from different ages with no regard for what was truly around when. So they had plants that the triceratops had acces to eat that should never have been there. If I recall correctly it was a way to show their haphazard planning in their haste for a money-making park and science break-thrus. ETA: or you know what josieposy said instead. I think I mixed my movie and book memories.

LOL! You aren't crazy. They thought maybe the animals were eating the plants, but while we were all amazed at the size of dino poop, Ellie said there were no berries in there and she was trying to figure it out.
