Since I'm on a roll, I took a bunch of "final" pics of our kitchen renovation. I know you guys have seen it a lot, I just wanted some good pics with the corner cabinet and art in place:
Here are the "before" pics of both the kitchen and dining room, with just a doorway between them (we knocked the wall down for the reno):
And the "After" pics:
Here's a view of the pull-out pantry next to the fridge open:
And of the 6" "bonus" cabinet to the right of the fridge open:
It's from Ballard. I'm usually pretty cheap about furniture, but it was so perfect that nothing from IKEA or Craigslist was going to compare. :-) I'm 100% happy with it. Ooh, looks like they have more colors now. When I bought it white and black were the only options
I love white kitchens! I love the shallow bonus cabinets next to the fridge. Are those the new generation of Ikea cabinets?
Nah, we did it last July so they were at the tail end of their old line. :-) That's actually a 12" deep cabinet that my contractor cut down to be about 6". We covered the side of it in drawerfronts so it would look more "finished."
That looks great! I love what you did with the "bar" area instead of the usual overhang & (rarely used) barstools!
Thanks! I've never understood the waste of space of having an eating area and seating like 6" away from the main dining table, lol. And we really need storage, since there's so few actual cabinets in the kitchen, especially since we took away all but one of the uppers when we took the wall down. There's really only three 18" wide cabinets now, and one of them has a big chunk out of it for the microwave. The shallow cabinets under the bar are only 12" deep, but they hold a LOT, including all of DS's art supplies so he can draw at the dining table, his microscope, some lego stuff, etc. The shallow drawers are really handy too, and it's great when you're short on counter space in the kitchen to be able to shove stuff up there when you want it out of the way.
