Is anyone not doing a meet and greet with their pedi? I got a recommendation from my hospital and midwife and after reading her bio and reviews I feel comfortable. I did call the office to put in my patient information (or get it transferred really from my midwife). The pedi that will be at the hospital to do the initial checkup isn't necessarily the same doctor as the one I chose, but will be from the same office since they work in the adjoining building to my hospital. The nurse who I spoke to was great and explained the process to me, but said that I would get a follow up to schedule a meet and greet and I never did. I'm not really worried about it since I don't have a lot of questions right now, but I thought it would be a nice thing to do. Is it a big deal if I don't?
We didn't do one and it was super easy to switch (with in the same practice) when we didn't like the original pedi we selected (gave him 2 appointments).

I never did one with my first. I knew the practice I wanted to use and did the research on all the doctors there and picked based on that.
When my son was born, the doctor we had picked was actually out on paternity leave since his wife had just had a baby, so another doctor in the practice saw us. We fell in love with him and ended up switching.
What's funny is that doctor #1 is doing rounds for the practice today, so instead of seeing our usual doctor this time around, we ended up with him. It's like we came full circle!
Great, that makes me feel better to not be doing it! I feel like it would be a short visit, or I'd print a list of questions because I don't really have any specific ones myself.
We were going to meet with 2 different pediatrician a but baby came earlier than expected so I just went with the one who had rights at the hospital she was born in and thankfully have been very happy with him.

I never did either. I picked a practice based on location, policies, etc. They have a bunch of docs on staff, so I could switch if I didn't like who we were paired with. We've stuck with the doc who first came to the hospital to check out the baby.
My GP is also a pediatrician and she has space in her practice so I'm going to stick with her. I asked her a few questions at my last appointment with her at 24 weeks to see what early pediatric appointments would be like and how often I would be bringing the baby in. That's all I'm really concerned about.
I agree with everyone above who said it isn't absolutely necessary. If you don't like the provider you initially chose, you can always switch. We are not planning to meet our pediatrician ahead of time. My H works with the two groups we are deciding between and has gotten recommendations for specific doctors within those groups that people like.
I don't think I'm going to do this. The ped practice closest to my house is highly recommended, so I'll prob just go with one of the MDs there. I'll ask a few questions to make sure I'm comfortable and we're generally on the same page but if I don't like them I'll just switch.
Technically, I haven't, but my PCP is a family practitioner and I lubs him so he'll see my baby too. If i didn't have him, i would have done a meet and greet. I recommend my students in my classes do so. But of course, it is not necessary.
I did and glad I did because the first place I went to did not leave a good taste in my mouth despite being recommended. The second place was much better and I am glad I didn't have to worry about finding a new pedi post partum.
I didn't. Thankfully neither of my children have had any issues out of the ordinary, so I don't expect too much from my pediatrician. I'm not the kind of person who seeks advice from a pedi about feeding or sleep, so I never cared what their philosophies were on those things. I discussed my BF issues with DS1 with an IBCLC outside the pedi practice.
If my kids had an issue that needed to be addressed I would want to meet and greet to make sure that s/he is knowledgeable and experienced in that particular area.
ETA: The important things about a pedi office to me are that 1.) they don't take anti-vaxxers, and 2.) they don't have crazy wait time. No way do I want to spend more than ten minutes in the waiting room with my kids. They get bored and I get antsy and then we're all in a bad mood. No thank you.

I knew which practice I was going to use based on recommendations from other local moms. They happened to have a monthly meet and greet session so I went and selected the pedi that hosted that one since she seemed nice. So far we've been very happy with her. I wouldn't have gone out of my way for a meet and greet though.
Originally I wasn't planning on it because I chose a practice based on recommendations. But when I called them to say that I was interested in using them as a pediatrician, the nurse asked if I wanted to come in to meet the doctor, so I felt like I had to. So I'll be meeting him this week!
