I burn the first few times I got out for the season, but after I burn I get pretty tan if I keep up with it. I've had some pretty horrible burns, unfortunately. I'm even very good about reapplying sunscreen, but I'm just so fair.
I normally use Aloe Vera, lots of water, healing lotion, oatmeal baths, coconut oil.
I just started taking Vitamin E a few days ago to maybe help my skin from the inside out prior to all our summer activities!
I have to burn to get a tan. Then the tan seems to disappear really fast so there's not real point. I usually apply aloe and pop a couple ibuprofens if I'm really burned but for the most part I have oficially become one of the olds and hang out in the shade.
Only until I get a base coat. I think I have mine now.
I keep aloe gel with lidocaine in the fridge. I've done the tea bag thing but that only works while the bags or tea-soaked washcloths are actually touching me.

I burn many times before I finally get tan. Well, that and my freckles explode even more, haha. I joke that I never tan, my freckles just end up running into each other! H is lucky and rarely burns. He can be tan after going outside for like 10 minutes. It's ridiculous!
I just realized that I got sunburnt a little today when kicked out of the house for the maids. We spent like an hour and a half in a shaded gazebo so it was either all from the walk to and from there or from the gazebo itself. Now I feel worse for my pups that were there with me.
grover you need to get a pool for your pups. My pup loves it on hot days. It's a plastic kiddy pool and he just walks right in it and drinks the water. He loves laying in it too.
awick14 I tried, but we can't fit it in our car. I'm making H take MIL's minivan today to go get one. Moo is actually scared of baby pools, or was when he was a little puppy. the other pups at puppy playtime were having a blast, and every time I tried to get him close to it he'd run away crying. I think Max would love it though.
