We took Bowser to the vet this morning because H noticed a lump on his abdomen Thursday night. They took a sample and the lump is just a benign fatty tumor, which are apparently very common for beagles as they get older, so no worries about that thankfully.
He was due for vaccines next month, so we went ahead and had those done while we were there. He doesn't usually have any issues with vaccines, but this time he's not a happy puppy. One of them upset his tummy, and he threw up about four hours after we got home. He's been restless for most of the afternoon, but now that he's emptied his stomach and taken an extra trip outside he's curled up on the couch with me. I'm eating a sandwich and he isn't even attempting to beg. I called the vet and they said to just keep an eye on him for the rest of the day, so H went to the graduation party we were invited to while I'm staying home.
@moonbeam - Is there anything I can do to help him feel better? He normally has a stomach of steel, so we aren't used to tummy aches. He keeps going back and forth between snuggle-y and restless and I'm worried that he's hurting more than I can tell.
Truly I don't really know . If my dog has diarrhea I give her plain rice, not even with chicken, and that helps. I don't know if that would help in this case. I would just wait it out. I think some rest will be all he needs to feel better.
@moonbeam - The rice is a good idea. I might do that in place of his dinner tonight. I hope that he's able to sleep it off quickly. He's snoring next to me right now.
Poor baby! When my oldest was a pup and got her first round of vaccines (with me anyway), she had a reaction and her face started swelling really bad. I had to rush her back to the vet for what was probably some really expensive Benadryl. I was 19 and a freaked out teen mom
MrsAggie- I took the pup to the vet once for an allergy and they gave him Benadryl. It was so expensive, I asked that vet what the difference between people Benadryl and dog Benadryl was: Nothing. Lol, now I just give him half a Benadryl if he's having a mild allergy, and a while one of its worse.
