We are down to 1-2 nursing sessions a day, and I've got a question. When you dropped the last sessions--for us, before bedtime and first thing in the morning--what did you replace them with?
The last few nights I haven't nursed in the evening but I've offered DD a straw cup with breastmilk (freezer stash). I figure she's used to the extra calories before bed, and I don't want her waking up hungry. She drank it with some reluctance the first two times, but last night there was lots of crying and shoving it away. So, should I just offer it with dinner? Not offer? Give her a sip or two if she's interested?
I'm also really stumped about dropping her AM session. She almost always wakes up around 5am, nurses, and then goes back to sleep until 7-7:30am. So I can't exactly feed her breakfast when she's up at 5am because I really want her to go back to sleep. Should I try a cup of milk? Food? Nothing?
I'm so used to thinking that she needs breastmilk for calories/nutrition that it's hard for me to figure out how to wean! And I also feel a little guilty because I don't think she really wants to stop nursing (she's almost 13 months) but I'm going to be out of town for 3-4 days twice in the next month, and I really don't want to pump while I'm away or ditch Mr. Smock with a cranky baby who wants to nurse.

I dropped the evening session last and didn't replace it. He eats a very good dinner and started STTN so I went with it.
For the morning session, I was able to rub his back and he goes back down until 630 am. When he re wakes he gets a breakfast pouch on weekdays while I get ready. On the weekends we go straight to breakfast.
