We do love our bank. Unfortunately it's a regional bank, and the state we're relocating to is not serviced by our current bank. I think we need to switch.
Anyone have recommendations for a national bank that they really like?
Or, anyone have recommendations for a local/regional bank that operates in Columbus, OH?
If you've got any military connection, I can't recommend USAA enough. If you have to go with the big ones, I prefer Wells Fargo over Bank of America. Much better customer service.

We Love USAA and can't rec them enough. We have a local account with Chase and they are ok- its just hard to measure up to USAA.
I have US Bank. I've been happy with them for years, until recently. 1-the banker I'm using for my refi is horrible and the process is taking months. 2-they are installing ATM's now where it sucks the check in for a deposit and it reads it (dollar amount and everything)--well, if it doesn't read one of your checks, it just spits it back out at you. There is no way to override it, etc. I had 2 Pinecone checks (so computer printed) and one went thru fine and the other got spit out at me 4 times before I gave up. The girl that worked there just shrugged her shoulders and said "I don't know." I'm dreading finding out what happens when its a hand written check.
Do you need to move banks?? I have banked at a credit union that is not in my town for years. Checks are direct deposited and I move money around online and pay bills. The only time I had to go the bank was to se-up the account. It takes longer to process loans and such since things go through the mail for orginal signatures.
Agree with PPs, local credit unions are the way to go. I've banked at one local CU or another for 15 years, and I've always been pleased with the customer service.
I'm with Wells Fargo....they're ok. It use to be Wachovia and I use to swear by them until the merger/take over. Now they have all kinds of fees. They call me all the time about my balance and try to get me to convert it to a new account that has higher interest rate (not enough to make me budge), but my account was grandfathered in from Wachovia and I don't have ridiculous fees like incoming wire which we get a lot of. They are also always trying to get us to open an investment account knowing I have a business account with the name "capital management" attached to it.
Sorry for the vent haha. I'm looking for a new national bank to move all of our accounts over to. We have a small account with BOA and they're not any better.
We opened an account at Key Bank because they had branches in both OH and WA when were moving and DH was here and I stayed in OH to sell the house. Haven't had any problems with them but their savings account rates suck big time.
I am the only person on earth not in love with USAA. We still use them because I'm too lazy to shop around but I really have found them to be nothing special. I have acquired about five banks over the years. They are all about the same, although credit unions are better for certain things.
Does your CU reimburse ATM fees? I haven't found any other bank that does that.

Fyi it's because Wacovia was customer service based and WF is sales-based. Tellers and bankers get fired if they don't meet quarterly sales goals, or if they get acertain number of non-perfect "shops." So, if you ever get a telephone survey, unless you hated your teller/banker and don't care if you never see them there again, give them all perfect scores.
Sad, but the more you limit your personal interaction, the less you'll probably be contacted.
Ditto. Never had any issues with them (although it was National City before PNC bought them out). Lots of branches... and it was cool to go to Ohio on a road trip and get cash out on my payday because I was lazy and didn't plan ahead before the trip.
But a local CU would also be great. We have a car loan through ours and I've done banking with my hometown CU from out of state and they are great... the customer service is awesome! If I ever have a problem with PNC, I'll run there next.

My local bank does. It's pretty awesome. They also know me by name. Love them!
Then again, Huntington has a 24-hr grace periods for overdrafts. I find this amazing so I love them too.
