I have no complaints about US Bank. We've banked with them for 4 years and can't think of anything negative that has ever happened in that time.
I have heard great things about credit unions, but we picked US Bank after our last move because I got tired of switching banks every time we moved out of the area and no longer had a local branch. I don't anticipate staying here forever, so it is nice to know that when we move (out of state) again we can take our account with us. I'd never want to bank somewhere that I couldn't make a deposit locally.

My main bank is a credit union based in MN (you'd probably know it, I think someone said you're currently in MN). Used to be an airline credit union and now it's open to everyone. I love it.. no fees and I get money back when I use my check card. It's not technically local so I agree with the PP that mentioned she does this. Then again my mom works there so it's easy for me to do stuff haha.
We also opened a savings account at ING because it has a higher interest rate. Only bad thing is the lack of actual branches and the face to face contact, but I never went into my other bank either. Still not sure how things are going to go with Capital One though.. I'm already a bit pissed at them but that's for reasons unrelated to my banking...
