Yep. P's surgery is going to be done by a plastics/neurosurgery team.
My best advice would be to make sure you are seeing a hand specialist--different plastic surgeons, IME, specialize in different body parts and it seems like most of the departments I've looked at have craniofacial people and hand people fairly separate.
Don't be afraid to get a second opinion if you are not comfortable with their treatment plan.

We haven't dealt with pediatric plastics but Brie is right that there are definitely specialties within plastics. My dad has had quite a few plastic surgeries for his pressure wounds.
B had plastic surgery when they did his spine surgery (which consisted of an orthopedist, neurosurgeon, and the plastic surgeon). He also had hand surgery (something called pollicization) which was done by a pediatric hand surgeon. He had 5 surgeries before he was 2.5... one of them before he was even 2 months old!
I'd see what the hand surgeon says and go from there. It'll be okay!
