DH & I have been tossing around the idea of getting an iPad. But we're not really agreeing on which model. I would prefer the Mini 3 because I have a feeling I'll be tossing it in my purse when we're traveling. DH wants the iPad Air 2 because the screen is bigger.
I have the full-sized Air and to be honest, I wish I had gone for the mini because the mini is plenty big. The Air is thin and light enough that it doesn't bother me to carry it around, but I could have saved the money. I don't know that the extra size really adds much value.
Though I do love reading magazines on it. I swear my magazines look so much prettier on my iPad than in real life. I guess that's where bigger is nicer.
I don't watch tv/movies on the iPad but if I did, bigger would also be better for that.
I suppose it should be a concern with this being MMM & all - but no it's not. We'll likely get the 64gb so it's a $100 more to get the Air 2 instead of the Mini 3.
If the price difference is only $100, I'd get the Air2. We have a Mini3 and an Air (not sure which model); I feel like both are on the heavier side for reading (although the Mini is certainly less awkward to hold for long periods), but the Air's larger screen is much better for watching movies/shows. DD, DH and I can all crowd on the bed and watch a show on the Air; it would be tough for more than one person to watch something on the Mini.
I have the Air2 and like it. I mean it's an ipad and it does it's job. I do have to say it was purchased for me by my school but I can download and do what I want with it so it's like it's mine. If we're out and about and I need something to distract DD quickly I pull out my phone that has apps and a couple shows saved to it. I never bring the ipad places as I've never seen the need.

We would all use it.
Then get the Air2 definitely.
I would get at least 64GB if you want to load it with movies/shows for DS. 128 would be ideal if you can afford it.
Thanks! I don't really see us buying many shows. We have the PBS Kids & Hulu apps on our iPod & have wifi access most of the time.
I have the mini and love it! It's so easy to toss In my purse but is big enough to use daily on the couch or when I watch tv in the bath. It's 1.5 old so I'm not sure what model it is.

We have an iPad mostly for DS, and we traded in full size ones for two minis. I was very much against the mini at first, but now I love it.
That being said, DH has one of them and I have no clue what he uses it for. The other one is used 95% of the time for DS to watch videos and 5% for me to surf the internet. I had the full size iPad but preferred using my macbook so I was fine with trading it in for the mini for DS to use.
For me and for our kid, the mini is the perfect size. I wouldn't want anything bigger. We have a great little case for it so that it is secure and DS won't break it. I don't really watch movies on there. I would rather watch them on the TV.
mrshandyAshley&Scott Just an FYI I have that case for the air and it did nothing to protect the ipad. It got small cracks in the corners and a huge one across the front of the screen. Thankfully my district has insurance on them and replaced the whole ipad for me but I steer people away from that case.
