...do you also have an account at a brick and mortar institution? Particularly one with a branch local to you?
If you don't have a brick and mortar branch, do you find it inconvenient?
For mostly convenience-related reasons, I've kept an account at US Bank (that predates even DH) open over the years. I'm paying a few dollars a month for it in the form of an 'internet banking fee'.
The only thing holding me back from closing it and keeping USAA only is the nagging feeling that I might need a physical bank at some point. But that seems silly b/c I can't think of a situation where it would be necessary.
I haven't had a brick & mortar account in over 5 years.
The only problem I ever encountered was when my parents each gave me a large sum of cash for graduation. But they both graciously took it back and wrote a check.
Unless you regularly get large cash gifts, I see no need for one.
I have a B&M bank account, but only because I work for a local bank who holds my mortagage & insists on autodrafting my payment from an account at their bank.

I do not have an account with a bank that is local. We've never had any issues with USAA being remote. We deposit checks through the mobile app, BIG checks we can take to a UPS store to have them deposited, loans of any kind are a snap with them no matter where you are. Love USAA.

Ditto all of this. I've banked exclusively with USAA for six years and I've never been in a situation where I needed a brick-and-mortar bank.
Any chance you're in the DC area? USAA has a local branch here now and ATM's all over the city.
We do have a local credit union that is our "main bank". Only because they have better rates on CDs than USAA. Plus I get paid a day early when direct deposited into that CU.
I would be fine without it. We get cash with our USAA accounts any way because of the credit for transaction fees.
