L (3.5 years old) and I leave for Vegas on Sunday. We are staying in the strip and will be there for 5 days. We are flying with a cares harness. I'm trying to see if there is anyway to not bring the carseat.... Once we are at hotel my plan was to walk/ take bicycle taxis when we go places...realistic? And if so how do I get from airport to hotel without car seat? Or do I need to just suck it up and bring it and rent a car...if so cheap rental cars?

I think renting a car in LV is a huge waste, since you can walk and/or use the monorail to get everywhere on the strip. If you want to do a day trip, the tour company will pick you up at your hotel.
I would consider using the Super Shuttle or something equivalent.
Once you are on the strip you can absolutely get away with no car seat; definitely not worth it to rent a car unless you want to go sightseeing outside of the city.
My only concern would be the taxi ride to/from the airport. Agree with PP re look into whether there's a shuttle that goes to/from your hotel, and/or maybe a taxi service that offers carseats?

Maybe try calling a few of these to see what type of vehicle they use, and whether you can book your ride on a specific type (my understanding is you don't need a carseat if it's a minibus-type shuttle, but you do if it's a van - someone please correct me if I'm wrong!):
If you're flying into McCarran and staying on the strip, it should be a fairly short cab/shuttle ride to the strip. Once you're on the strip, you can pretty much walk or take the monorail to anywhere else on the strip, or take a short cab ride. I see no reason to take a carseat on this trip.
It appears that McCarran International Airport is served by at least 2 city bus lines and some sort of lightrail.
While we do have buses, they are really not the best option to use here. My understanding is that they are frequently late or don't show up and a good portion of the routes only run once per hour. It is too hot right now to be stuck somewhere waiting if you have other options available. The only people that I know that use them are those that absolutely cannot afford a car. There is no light rail service that connects the airport to the Strip. There is a system within the airport and a short monorail that run behind a portion of the Strip.

Depending on your hotel, they might have a standard shuttle that will pickup/drop off at the airport. I'm not sure which ones do but I know I've seen them when I'm at the airport. Walking is doable, depending on where you are going. Just remember everything is farther then it looks and it will be hot as hell with little shade when you're outside. I've never used a bicycle taxi here as I just park at whatever hotel we are doing something at.
I am in Vegas for a conference right now. My coworker's husband came and got a rental car to go hiking in Red Rock but the only thing we have needed it for was to go to Fremont Street. If you have a travel car seat, I'd just use that in the cab or shuttle to/from hotel and if you want to go to Fremont Street, which I recommend doing.
I ended up reserving a rental car. Not worth the stress for me. I'll just bring our travel car seat. Thank you ladies!
Does that shuttle that goes from the airport to the strip not exist anymore? It stops at most if the major hotels. It may not stop at yours, but it should be close enough. As long as you don't have a ton of luggage, you should be fine. It's a bus. No car seat needed.
Isn't there a light rail from the airport to the strip? I remember riding something. Did I hallucinate?
No there isn't a light rail from the airport to the strip. There is one (Monorail) that runs from the convention center to some of the strip but currently it doesn't link to the airport. There are talks of it someday linking but that is pretty far down the road. Public transportation here sucks

Okay, I just remember taking the monorail. I guess maybe I Just took it to some of the hotels or something. That sucks!
