I have been experiencing some heel pain for a while and thought I needed new shoes, which I got. My other aches and pains went away (hips/knees) but the heel and foot pain has continued. My googling led me to plantar fasciitis, which describes my symptoms perfectly.
Anyone have any experience? I'm training for the Beach to Beacon right now, so I am not looking to take time off. I read some tips for rolling my foot on a tennis ball and anti-inflammatories, which I will try.
Is this something I should see a doc for now, or just deal with it until after my August 1st race?
I was going to the doctor for mine. Next time I go they will be scanning my foot to rule out a fracture or something. It's been a few weeks so I can't remember what she called it. She also suggested inserts for my shoes for now. I bought those for my CrossFit shoes and they have made a difference. I don't feel any pain with those shoes now. I'm thinking I may need them for my running shoes as well since I'm starting to notice a little pain after runs. Not bad, but a little.
I find regular rolling on a lacrosse ball to help. Also, there's a yoga pose - you sit with your feet crossed underneath/behind you, and then use the boney top part of one foot to massage the fascia on the bottom of the other foot. Hopefully that makes sense
The only thing that helped me was to go to a physical therapist. In the end it had nothing to do with my foot. I was holding my pelvis too far forward when I ran.
I have a mild case according my doctor. What's helped me is hamstring & calf stretches after runs, ice baths, and rolling my feet using a tennis ball. I also use a resistance band to stretch my feet out everyday.
I've been doing stretches, got some inserts for my shoes, have been rolling on a tennis ball and taking ibuprofen. And it is still killing me in both feet.
How dumb is t to just power through until my race on August 1st, then take some time off running/ maybe look into PT after?

Sleep splint? It's the only thing that worked for me. I linked mine in my previous post. A cheap solution (and is flexible-spending eligible)
