Further proof I am probably unrealistically cheap. I almost always only but at Costco for $2.99/lb. Bing cherries/dark sweet. I don't care for Mt. Rainer. At the regular stores I might do $3.49/lb.
Oh I'm cheap. I always tell DS no to cherries because they come pre bagged so the $4.99/lb cherries cost me over $10. I never pay more than $1.50/lb for produce

I'll buy a smallish bag at 3.99/lb but try to wait until they're 2.99/lb (Maybe even 1.99, can't remember if they get that low) & buy a few pounds at the beginning and end of the sale cycle.
No fancy pitter, I cut them out for ds & spit them out myself.
I don't think I've ever seen organic ones or seen them at costco.

I just bought cherries for $1.98 /lb and oggled fresh scallops for only $16/lb. I paid $36/lb last weekend. We are in SD and the cost differences for things are amazing me. I may grocery shop for some yummy extras before I go home!

The cherry spitting talk reminded me of when I worked at a movie theater and after one showing, I went in to clean up the theater and someone had eaten cherries and spit the pits out all over the floor! Bad manners!

So I was at a wedding last night (as I just posted about) and they had cherries during all the courses. What is the polite way to eat a cherry at a wedding? DS loves them, so I let him go crazy eating them and spitting the seeds into napkins (and then handing the napkins to me) esp. since the only other thing he ate all night was bread and cookies, but I was not about to spit out cherry seeds in a fancy dress (plus how to manage plate with cherries and wine glass with no tables, I couldn't even manage a napkin).
