Season of Storms by Susanna Kearsley. It's not my favorite of her's.
Best trip was probably when we went to London and Scotland in 2009. I always read something, but it was a lot of sightseeing. It was before I got my kindle, so I had to make tough decisions about what to bring. I remember reading The Duchess.
I'm reading And Only To Deceive by Tasha Alexander. I like it so far, just haven't spent a lot of time on it.
Best trip was in 07 our trip to Argentina and Uruguay. I''m sure I had books to read but don't remember what, other than trading out "under a Marble Sky" in the casita in Chaceas de Coria we were staying in after I finished it.
DH and i's first trip as a couple in 2003, I remember buying one of the outlander books at a book store in Bar Harbor, Maine and reading a lot from that point on. That's probably my most sentimental trip.

Honolulu by Alan Brennert. It's OK but it's really not holding my attention so I'm not reading it very quickly. I also just finished a reread of Breaking Dawn today on audio.
My favorite trip was probably when DH and I went to Hawaii in 2008. I had a bunch of magazines along and read them because H doesn't like to sit still for very long so I would only get 10 minutes here and there before we were "doing something".

The House Girl - it interweaves two stories, one of a slave from Virginia hoping to escape and make her way north via the Underground Railroad. And a second story, told from the perspective of a modern day nyc lawyer working on a case about reparations for descendants of slaves. I'm enjoying it.

I'm reading Sidney Chambers and The Shadow of Death, which is good so far, but I've been busy so I've had trouble getting into it. And it's a stiff, big book, so I'm finding it uncomfortable to hold.
QOTW: Best trip ever was my Baltic Cruise, I loved every one of the stops, and the highlight was the overnight in St. Petersburg, Russia and the tours of Peterhof and the Winter Palace (part of The Hermitage). I did not do a lot of reading on that trip, just 2 books, reading mainly on the trans-Atlantic flights.
My best reading trip was a 10-day Canada/New England cruise that went to St. Pierre-et-Miquelon & St. John's, Newfoundland. It was chilly and grey most days, just perfect for curling up on a sofa in the lounges with a book and a mug of hot cocoa. I finished 8 books on that cruise.
I just finished A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and really liked it. I started The Storyteller, and am interested to see where it goes- I wasn't expecting what's happened so far.
In high school I took a trip to six European countries with school which was amazing. I also loved the Alaskan cruise I went on.
I'm reading The Witnesses Wore Red. I'm am outraged but also bored with it as I've read several FLDS bios. I have so many books on hold right now, I'm dying for something else!
Best place I've traveled: we did a 10-day Washington road trip and went hiking at Mt. Rainier National Park, North Cascades National Park, Olympic National Park <all 3 parts> and then spent a few days in Seattle. It was a life-long dream come true. I didn't read much during the trip but we stopped in Forks and I was embarrassingly excited about the Twilight stuff (FTR I don't think Twilight is a wonderful piece of literature)
The House Girl - it interweaves two stories, one of a slave from Virginia hoping to escape and make her way north via the Underground Railroad. And a second story, told from the perspective of a modern day nyc lawyer working on a case about reparations for descendants of slaves. I'm enjoying it.
This is immediately available at my library for kindle, downloading it now. Thanks!!
My answer is a broken record, still reading Firl on the Train - I am liking it more, just too busy to find time to read.
QOTW: favorite vacation was our honeymoon cruise in the Med, an awesome 11 days in 2003. I am sure I had a book (or two), but it would have been for flights and before bed.
i do like to travel with magazines. A quick way to fill what time I have, plus I don't have to bring them home.
I am reading The Hanged Man. It's pretty good so far; it has a paranormal element but reads a lot like a mystery thus far.
It's hard to pick a favorite trip, but my favorite trip by myself was to Bruges. I'm sure I did a ton of reading since I dined alone and am kind of chicken about the nightlife. I think I grabbed dinner, got a beer and retired to my b&b.

Starhawk by Jack McDevitt It's a prequel the a series I really enjoyed, but I am just slogging through this. It's not interesting and honestly seems to contradict the history presented in the original novel. I read each of the other books in about a week, and this one I've been trying to get through for over a month. I still haven't gotten into the meat of the plot.
Dh and I went to NYC in 2011. It was my first time really visiting the US and we had an awesome time doing all the kitschy, touristy stuff and walking around Manhattan. There was no time for reading anything except guide books

I just started Food: A Love Story by Jim Gaffigan. I was looking for something light and funny to read, and a friend recommended it. I'm not loving it yet, but I'll give it more time. It's a quick read so far.
