We have two customers who put read receipt request crap on EVERY EMAIL THEY SEND. It is so frigging annoying!! I should just check the "always send" box or whatever, but don't since we have a group email that goes to six people and if I do that, then it will send back the response even if I just accidentally click on the email in Outlook, but its something I don't read/doesn't apply to me.
Who does this? :@ Don't their inboxes get insanely full with all those stupid receipts?
I can't stand this and hardly ever do it myself. If someone doesn't want to read an email, oh well. I can only remember 1-2 times when I've done this and this is because I needed some sort of "proof" that the person read it so they couldn't come back and say, "I was never told this!"

I have a coworker who used to do this all. the. time. when she thought she was a supervisor (which she never has been). She did it to act like she was important and wanted "proof" that the emails she was sending were being read, when they really weren't all that important.

This is what my BSC coworker does - just with completely irrelevant information.
