Unpopular opinion: I don't mind Guy Fieri, and I like to go to places he visits.
But he's never visited a place he doesn't recommend. He liked the Mad Greek in Baker. Now, there's a dearth of good eating in Baker, but if you must, go to Del Taco. The Mad Greek is really, really gross.

All this Food Network talk made me realize I was hungry. The cupboard was nearly bare, but I was able to scrounge together Ritz cracker sandwiches with nutella and cookie butter. Yummy!

OK, I see House Hunters has been mentioned so I'm not totally jumping off topic, but I miss Trading Spaces! Some of those were awesome and some were terrible, and some were just straight up horrible looking back at episodes now. And Hildi ... she was special.

The wall of hay. Classic.
Did you ever watch the British version? I adored that show so much.
I love House Hunters, and LOVE HH International. But it's like there are five random fucking Caribbean episodes to every one episode that's actually somewhere interesting.
Have you seen A Sale of Two Cities? It's like HH but it's an hour long with two sets of buyers shopping with the same budget in two different cities. So great for the "how much will your budget buy you here" factor.
$40 a day w/Rachel Ray was really good, except I was always mad that she would go out and not drink any booze and her tips were for shit. I mean, not that you could tip well and drink for $40/day, so I guess that was the point but still...

Pioneer Woman was the death of FN for me.
Nails on a chalkboard. I can not watch her. At all.
I quit both HGTV and FN when they did nothing but show 'reality' crap. No thanks. H and I used to spend weekends watching those two networks. Neither of us can stand either channel anymore.
You wanted scripted drama from HGTV? Maybe a police procedural where they investigate the style of the perps' houses?
I don't want drama period! I want to see actual DIY stuff, not just House Hunters and those annoying brothers. I used to love the budget house makeover shows, especially when we were looking to buy a house ourselves. My H loved the yard DIY shows. Now I can't stand watching the channel, listening to spoiled brats whine about paint colors and granite countertops.

I don't know why he just doesn't bother me. Maybe it's because I appreciate his show's scouting.
Also, you're clearly blind and deaf because he looks like an electrified porcupine with a trash compactor for a mouth and sounds like every really dumb guy you know who is also high on whipits.
My condolences on your recent losses.
always felt he looked more like Sonic the Hedgehog, but not nearly so bad ass as this guy.
I've moved to PBS for cooking and home shows, although admittedly they are slower moving than cable. A Chef's Life is good but my favorite is still America's Test Kitchen.
I feel like all of the Republican presidential candidates chanting the N-word in unison for an hour would be less offensive to black people than that Kwanzaa cake.

I love that they move slowly. It's so calming compared to cable. On A Chef's Life I can see so many points were cable would over dramatize/eff it up. Like when the restaurant burned there was no cut in of some fake fire, flashing lights, and siren noises.
And there are no/few of those stupid cut away interviews of people giving their narrative reactions to the show as it happens. I am so over that show format.
