I'm in week 2 of marathon training so the mileage is still low. I've been doing early morning workouts (5AM) to squeeze it in before work.
So today is a double day. I did lifting this morning at 5AM and am going to a 3M lunchtime run. It's actually going pretty well juggling both. The only problem is the hunger.
I lifted this morning and I'm starving! It's only 930. I usually do lunch at 11AM.
So here's what I ate. 425 wake up - half a cup of coffee, almond butter, toast, banana Post workout - 3 fried eggs + sweet potato sauteed in coconut oil At work - almonds, larabar (I was going to hold off until after midday run, but I was too hungry)
Lunch will be a chicken & sweet potato soup + 1/2 grapefruit. I know that won't hold me off until dinner so I'll have to find something else. (read:vending machine)
I would have brought more from home, but I'm out of snack ideas and we just don't have anything else.
I guess I'm kind of restrictive in my diet which is probably my main problem. I do a loose Paleo/low sugar thing (I'll eat sugar free toast and oatmeal). I try to limit fruit to only one serving per meal.
What am I doing wrong here? I feel like morning workouts just make me starved all day even if I get a good recovery meal in.
I do crossfit in the morning before work and then run at lunch or later in the day. For breakfast, I try to eat eggs, a meat and a veggie. For example, I'll have two eggs, broccoli and some leftover ground meat from dinner. I'll have fruit or a cheese stick as a snack before my lunchtime run. If I don't load up at breakfast, I'm hungry for the rest of the day and feel like I can't get satisfied.
I am also early in on marathon training and have had to switch to morning workouts, which is new for me. My normal egg, cheese, bacon scrambles were doing NOTHING.
I added in protein shakes and they make a huge difference for me. I like vega with almond milk and strawberries. I eat that immediately after working out and heat up my second breakfast at work. I am fine til lunch.

Do you eat greek yogurt? Or any yogurt? It keeps me full for a while. Or cheese? You can get cheddar cheese sticks or babybels and bring them to work.
Avocados are also good as a snack. I've started eating slices of avocados on pretzel chips with a squeeze of lime. But you could do it without the pretzels if you're trying to limit grains.

I don't usually do yogurt because of the added sugar even in plain I think. But avocados are definitely good. I should have brought one today. I always forget to tell H to get them when he goes to the grocery store.
I work out in the mornings, and nowhere near marathon training levels, and when I run I am SO hungry the next morning before lunch. Everyone is probably different, but I've found for me that adding fat in with the protein makes a huge difference- avocados are worth a try. I also throw canned tuna on top of my salad a couple times a week and/or eat salmon burgers for dinner or a snack. Full fat cottage cheese works well too.

Not sure what plain yogurt you are buying, but the stuff I usually buy is just milk+cultures. No added anything. I like mixing plain greek yogurt with some nut butter. It makes it feel like dessert to me. Of course I also add honey...but obviously you could skip that. I like the sour taste of plain yogurt though.

The plain Fage yogurt I buy doesn't have any added sugar. If you read the label, it does have natural sugars from the dairy, but nothing added.
