Today and tomorrow I'm baby sitting a friend's kid. She turned 2 a couple of weeks ago. Last night friend asked what I needed her to bring. I said any lovey she might want for nap time and diapers. Friend says she's potty trained.
Well, she's been here for 3 hours and so far has has 3 accidents. Not, oops a little came out before I made it to the potty, but full on peeing on the floor. After the first i reiterated to tell me if she had to go and have put her on the potty a couple of times just to avoid accidents.
I'm kind of annoyed. If she's newly PT'd or prone to accidents I feel like maybe my fund should've given me a heads up. How would you approach with friend? Beyond mentioning the accidents should I ask if its to be expected or just assume it's because she's never been in my home so new environment?
DS trained at 3 and never had accidents so I'm not sure if this is normal for being in unfamiliar surroundings?

I'd mention the accidents and then try to plan activities tomorrow that make accidents easier (outside, on the tile, etc.) I'd also take her to the bathroom like hourly.

After the first accident I did have her regularly sit on the potty but it didn't seem to help. After she peed on the chair we went outside but it's over 100 so we can't stay out too long and we have like no shade. Also we have carpet everywhere but the kitchen, bathrooms and entry :/
This is why I don't watch other kids regularly! Lol
I get why your irritated but I think I'd just mentioned factually that there were a lot of accidents and not get into the fact that you should have been given more heads up about it. My son is trained and rarely has accidents but when he does they happen in group. 3 accidents could happen in one day with a kid who is off their game and not with their primary care giver.

Well to be clear, I wasn't going to get into it over not having been given a heads up. I was more looking for how to ask if this is typical so I can get a better idea for tomorrow or just assume it was her being off.
When mom picked her up id mention the potty training thing didn't work at your house as she peed x amount of times and please send pull ups.
I wish I would have the guts to say this, but seriously...even a kid who is off their game at a strange house, if being taken to the potty at regular intervals, should not have 5 accidents!? Good luck.

I would have the guts to say it because I wouldn't want my carpet getting ruined. In a newly trained kid who would be predisposed to having accidents I think pull ups should be an option. My kids never had accidents like that even in the first week of being trained.

I know lots of kids have accidents but yeah, DS was 3 when he trained and he never had an accident either so I just am not sure if this is newly trained normal, in an unfamiliar place normal or not normal at all,

An accident or two sounds normal. Five does not. Anecdotally I feel the frequent accident thing is more common with kids who are pt young but that sounds way more than normal accidents.
Maybe a combo of what KC says... let her wear underwear but with a pull-up over it so the mess is at least contained and not on the carpet/furniture? Although I have no idea how to broach this subject with the mother....
I would tell her that you tried x, y and z today and it didn't seem to work for her child. What does she think would be the best plan of action for tomorrow because you want her to have success with potty training. Make it about the kid being successful not protecting your carpet (not that I blame you for that).
Friend just picked her up. 5 pee accidents and she pooped in her pants.
After I told her that she had so many accidents before I could even ask if she had suggestions for tomorrow she says "oh DD you did so good this weekend!" Turns out they started potty training on Thursday.

Of course. Is she bringing pull-ups or anything for tomorrow? Or are you supposed to PT this kid??

I know she was in a bind because her in-home DCP called her Sunday night to say she had a family emergency. So it's not like she planned to PT and then dump her on me.
I'm still miffed/baffled that she called her PT'd and didn't give me a fair warning that she wasn't fully trained.
I told friend she can send her in undies but I'm putting a pull up over them

DD is potty trained at home. Only wears underwear and doesn't need to be reminded to go. However, she is really shy and won't go at her babysitter's house. Even if the babysitter puts her on the toilet, she won't go. So I send her in/with pull ups. She's young still and she will figure it out eventually but in the meantime, I would not expect the babysitter to be cleaning her pee all over the house.
Also, she's been training for 4 days? Of course she is having accidents. Poor kid.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
So far so good. I put one of DS's old pull ups over her underwear and every 45 min-hour I'm taking her potty. So far 1 accident which is miles above yesterday. This kid gives no clues she has to pee! She doesn't hold herself or wiggle around or do a potty dance
