We reheat DD's food in the microwave in a regular dish, then put it in her thermos. It is supposed to keep warm for 5 hours. No complaints or food poisoning from her yet!
I pack my work lunch like this all time. Hasn't killed me yet. The microwave/lounge at my school is way across my building and it's not worth the trek. I do a regular microwaveable container, stick it in my insulated tote and call it good. It's always still warm when I get to lunch. If I'm at all worried about it I wrap it in a towel for extra insulation.
I do the same for H and the help as well. I haven't poisoned anyone in 10 years. Yet.

A tip on keeping it hot - before you add the warmed up food, add boiling water to the thermos and put the lid on for a few minutes. Then drain the water and add the hot food. It's supposed to keep the food warmer, longer. I do this for my kids' lunches and they have never complained of a cold lunch - even on days when their lunch box is outside for 20 minutes in subzero weather.
